FAQs
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic complementary therapy that uses pressure and application of touch to points on the foot or hand which correspond with different areas of the body. It can be very effective in promoting relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing.
How does reflexology work?
The theory of reflexology is that it helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Areas on the foot known as reflexes correspond to areas and organs in the body. By ‘working’ these reflexes with touch and pressure the body is able to rebalance and repair itself.
What will my treatment involve?
I can see you in the comfort of your own home or at my peaceful treatment room based in Balderton, Newark.
At your first visit an initial consultation will be taken, this will enable me to get an accurate medical history and understanding of what you would like to achieve from reflexology, this will then allow me to develop a personalised treatment plan for you. After the consultation you will receive a full gentle treatment. The initial appointment will last up to 90 mins. Subsequent treatment sessions approx 60 mins.
You will be asked to sit in a reclining chair, I will then ask you to remove your shoes and socks. I will give your feet a refresh with wipes and apply a lotion to your feet. I will then work over your feet with gentle pressure, the pressure will be adjusted as needed in subsequent treatments. During treatment you can watch the treatment or close your eyes and listen to some relaxing music, if you fall asleep that's fine, most people do.
What are the benefits?
While reflexology does not claim to diagnose or cure disease it can help with the symptoms of many diseases and complement other treatments. Reflexology benefits include:
– Deep relaxation
– Aiding sleep
– Reducing stress
– Improving mood
– Promoting a sense of well-being
How many treatments do I need?
Reflexology has a cumulative effect so the more treatments you have, the greater the benefits you are likely to feel. The number of treatments can vary but I will discuss this with you at your first appointment. Treatments can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on your needs.
What do I need to bring to the appointment?
List / awareness of your medical conditions
List / awareness of medication you take
List / awareness of any allergies

Indian Head Massage
What will my treatment involve?
A traditional Indian head massage is completed in sitting.
You will be asked to remove your clothing from your shoulders and neck area. You will be given a towel to wrap yourself in. If you prefer not to have to undress, treatment can be completed through light clothing.
Oil is applied to the neck, shoulders and upper arms. (Oil will not be used if you choose to remain clothed for your treatment.)
The treatment routine will then be followed, I will check throughout that the pressure is suitable.
You can then relax and enjoy the treatment.
After your treatment you will be given some self care advice.
